Clinic Team

Our veterinary staff includes a member of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, a surgeon certified in TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) knee surgery, and a practitioner certified in veterinary acupuncture. All of our radiographs are reviewed by a board-certified radiologist.


Dr. Joanne Schulman - Founder, Co-owner

Dr. Schulman received her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and her D.V.M. degree from the University of Minnesota. She is also a member of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. Admittance into this distinguished Board includes a three-part examination with demonstration of advanced knowledge in veterinary medicine. Re-certification is required every 10 years to show continued advancement.

Joanne's special interests include oncology and all aspects of feline medicine. She enjoys bicycling and skiing in her spare time, as well as playing with her grandson, Isaac. She also enjoys walking around the lake with her dog, Ollie.


Dr. Craig Turino - Co-owner

A native of Wisconsin, Dr. Turino received his veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota in 2000. After veterinary school, Craig completed an internship at Rowley Memorial Animal Hospital - a large referral hospital in Western Massachusetts. It was an intensive year with heavy emphasis on his two main interests - surgery and dentistry. He joined the practice as an associate in July 2002 and became co-owner in January 2005. Dr. Turino is one of a few veterinarians in private practice certified to perform TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) surgery.

Craig currently lives in St. Paul with his wife, Sarah, two daughters, and their chocolate lab, Tallulah. He is an avid reader and loves to bake.


Dr. Jeffrey Schulman - Part-owner

Dr. Jeffrey Schulman, the son of the clinic's senior veterinarian, Dr. Joanne Schulman, joined the Kenwood Pet Clinic in 2007. He holds an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and worked as engineer for NASA in Houston. He then decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine and earned his D.V.M. degree from the University of Minnesota in 2007. Dr. Schulman's special interests include dentistry and feline medicine.

Jeff lives in St. Paul with his wife and son. They also share their home with 2 cats. In addition to spending time with his family, Jeff enjoys gardening and traveling.


Dr. Mark Prochaska - Associate

Dr. Prochaska really enjoys life and being a veterinarian. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Iowa and his D.V.M. degree from Iowa State University. Mark joined the Kenwood Pet Clinic in 1991 and enjoys all aspects of practice: from echocardiology to surgery and root canals. He believes it is important to continue to learn and develop his practice skills.

Mark and his wife Aimee have a daughter, a son and 2 great cats. They hope to get a dog as soon as Annalynne, their daughter, is old enough to ask for one. Mark has a variety of interests including skiing (both cross country and downhill), hiking and trout fly-fishing. In the summer his biggest passion is racing his sailboat on Lake Calhoun.


Dr. Seth Cohen - Associate

Dr. Cohen was born in Philadelphia, PA and has traveled the U.S. to receive his professional education. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. He then attended the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2006. Dr. Cohen has completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Michigan Veterinary Specialists, a large referral practice in Detroit, MI. Prior to joining the Kenwood family, Dr. Cohen worked at a small internal medicine practice. His interests include internal medicine, neurology, nephrology and endocrinology.

In his time off, Seth enjoys reading, sports and spending time with his wife, his Boston Terrier Ruby, and his two cats Gus and Eli.


Dr. Carie Alexander - Acupuncture

Currently performing acupuncture for Kenwood Pet Clinic, Dr. Alexander practiced general medicine and acupuncture at Kenwood from 2001 to 2008. She received her B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and her D.V.M. from Colorado State University. She is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist through the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Carie is originally from Colorado and moved to Minneapolis from Seattle in 1998 with her family. She is married with 3 children, 2 dogs and 2 cats. A lifelong runner, she now has a year ‘round trainer, her border collie, Ness. Carie has a variety of other interests, including volunteering at her children’s school, gardening, cooking, knitting, hiking and skiing.


Our technical staff includes Certified Veterinary Technicians, trained veterinary assistants and receptionists.

Name: Squash (8 weeks)

Likes: Playing with shoelaces, cuddling/purring, and dishing out the kisses.

Dislikes: When his big brother (Dodge) picks on him, being out of food, and losing toys under the radiators.

When I grow up: I want to be an olympic sprinter.
