We recommend Microchips for most pets. Microchips are inexpensive, easily implantable devices that are roughly the size of a grain of rice. A microchip allows for permanent identification, even if your pet loses it's collar. When a lost pet is brought into a facility that has a microchip reader (Humane Society, Animal Control, Veterinary Clinics) the chip can be read to obtain it's unique ID number. This number allows a safe rescue, even without any other identification tags. We can place a microchip as part of a routine exam at your next visit.
